Terms of service

The terms for using the CoHiro app. How we handle your data is described separately in the privacy policy.

Last updated: 12 August 2026.

1. What this is

These terms are the agreement between you and Niugio UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Urbanstraße 71, 10967 Berlin, Germany, for using CoHiro. By creating an account, or by using CoHiro, you accept them. How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy, which is an information notice rather than part of this contract.

2. The service

CoHiro is a shared shopping list and household inventory. It is free to use today. If we introduce paid features, they will be optional and clearly marked, and features that are free today will not silently become paid.

3. Your account

You need an email address to have an account, and you must be at least 16. One account is one person: what happens through your account carries your display name, and the people you live with will read it as you. Keep your sign-in to yourself.

4. Households are shared

The point of CoHiro is that a household sees and edits the same things. Anyone in your household can add, change, mark, or delete shared items and lists, including things you added. Whoever runs a household can remove members from it. So choose who you share a household with: we cannot referee household disagreements, and we do not moderate what members do inside their own household.

An invite code lets whoever holds it join your household, so share it carefully. It expires on its own, and you can revoke it.

5. Your content, and ours

What you put into CoHiro stays yours. You give us just enough licence to run the service: storing your content, syncing it, showing it to the members of your household, and quoting it in the notifications you and they asked for. We use it for nothing else, and the privacy policy says so in detail.

The app itself is ours: the code, the design, the artwork and the CoHiro name. Your account gives you a personal right to use CoHiro. It does not give you a right to copy, resell or re-license any part of it.

6. Acceptable use

Use CoHiro lawfully. Do not try to reach other people's data, probe or overload the service, or use invites or feedback to spam anyone. Breaking these rules can lead to an account being suspended or closed (section 7).

7. Leaving, and being removed

You can stop at any time: delete your account in the app under Account, no need to ask us. What deletion removes, and what stays with a shared household, is described in the privacy policy. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the law, and where reasonable we will tell you why.

8. Changes

CoHiro will keep changing as we build it, and features can change or be retired. We may also change these terms. If a change genuinely affects you, we will say so in the app before it applies, rather than quietly editing this page; if you keep using CoHiro after that, the new terms apply, and if you do not agree with them, deleting your account is always available and free. If we ever shut CoHiro down, we will give you notice in the app first.

9. If something goes wrong

CoHiro is provided free of charge, as it is, and without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability: maintenance and faults can interrupt it. We are fully liable for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. For ordinary negligence we are liable only if we breach an obligation this contract depends on, and then only up to the damage that is foreseeable and typical for a service like this. Beyond that, we are not liable, and nothing in this section limits liability where German law does not allow it to be limited.

CoHiro is a household list, not a system of record. Please do not make it the only copy of something irreplaceable.

10. The legal frame

German law applies. If you are a consumer, the protections of the country you live in that cannot be contracted away stay with you. If one clause of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest stand. We may transfer this agreement to a legal successor of Niugio UG; you can end it at any time by deleting your account. We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. Questions: support@cohiro.app.
